Are you thinking about an outdoor ceremony for your wedding?
A few days ago I was in Dun Laoghaire in south county Dublin. I had a couple’s photo shoot there and also went to check out a wedding venue, Haddington House Hotel, where I will be shooting a wedding in this summer.
After the photo shoot with the guys I went for a walk along the pier thinking “Ireland is such a beautiful place, great for outdoor weddings”. It was a relatively clear day with some blustery wind which blew my hair in my face and I nearly stepped off the pier but that didn’t distract me from taking in the beautiful setting of the harbour, with many boats docked and the lighthouse in the distance. I started to reminisce on the many outdoor engagement shoots that I have done with my clients, they have always been such fun!
Many of my clients have expressed an interest in outdoor ceremonies and I have noticed that more and more people are moving away from the traditional indoor wedding and are instead opting for a beautiful outdoor ceremony.
When we are in picturesque surroundings with the ones we love the sense of romance, adventure and natural beauty is enhanced. We cannot help but relax, take it all in and forget all our worries. Why not plan your ceremony to take place outside in the fresh air. You and your guests will be at ease enjoying the scenery and natural beauty, children will have more room to move around and no-one will be put out by having to sit next to a door. All this will add a more spontaneous and joyous atmosphere to your ceremony.
You can have an outdoor wedding almost anywhere: beach side, on the grounds of a castle, in a walled garden or even in your back yard. Plan it well, pray for good weather and your wedding will be a beautiful and memorable event not only for both of you but also for all your guests.
Here are 8 pictures from around Ireland; Connemara, Fanore Beach, Dun Laoghaire and Howth to name a few. These places are beautiful and provide the most interesting settings for your photos. Ireland is known for its rich colours and dramatic landscape, why not embrace your adventurous side and take the party outside! (at least for an hour anyway)*
